Ode To Saturday is comprised of singers Deiy Leone & Jordan Kalé. This duo Is on a “crazy” mission to change the world by bridging all of the things that separate us: race, religion, age, gender, and sexuality. In doing so they hold high the pillars of love, family, service, and fun all while being your full/authentic self. As Sacramento, Ca natives they have ushered in a new sound that has been influenced by the likes of r&b, 90’s hip hop, and everyday life, that is in a league of its own. This wild pair is a movement of the people, specifically the youth whose voices aren’t being heard. They have seen the way the youth responds to not only their sound, more importantly our message. God has given them the ability to lead, and they are using it in a way that still takes everyone that they meet by surprise.
This dynamic duo was formed in 2013. The name Ode To Saturday was chosen because it brought back nostalgic feelings of Saturday Morning cartoons, Family cookouts , having fun & being free-spirited. Saturday is the day that people reserve to be their full authentic selves. Coining their mantra “Thank God It’s Saturday”.
Not only does this dynamic duo create music, they also run after school programs with Rose Family Creative Empowerment Center in south Sacramento. They believe their purpose is also to service the community with a pure heart. Giving students a safe space to learn, create, & discover their own personal legends. Within the Rose Family branch, Jordan & Deiy also run a Visual and performing arts program for students in the area. With arts being taken out of schools scholars do not have a space to create or express themselves therefore leading them to the street life or unsociable. When they were in school, they had an outlet so its their mission to give scholars what they had.
Ode To Saturday’s first project was released in 2016, entitled “Everyday is Saturday Vol 1”. On March 24th, 2019 the duo released their second EP entitled “Last Saturday Night” and was awarded the 2019 Sammie Music Award for Best R&B/Soul Act. Their new sound is the prelude for their first full length album coming soon.
